Talks about contemporary dance
The book tells what was happening in contemporary dance, body-oriented practices and performance art in Belarus from the end of the 20th century to the present day. The book consists of 18 conversations with outstanding representatives of the Belarusian contemporary dance (dance artists, choreographers, performers, directors), as well as a dance researcher and directors of the International Festival of Modern Choreography in Vitebsk.
A critical article and an essay are combined with conversations into an integral symbolic and textual canvas. You will discover the creative history and artistic practice of each participant of the book. This will bring you closer to the 'Belarusian body' and will give you the viewpoint for understanding how to 'watch' contemporary dance and how to interact with it.
AR-application created specifically for the book allows you to use a smartphone or tablet to see the participants dancing, their archival photos, to hear music from their performances.

TREMORS Dance Company
Curiosity about life in all its aspects, I think, is still the secret of great creative people.
was a collaboration of dance artists and performers founded in Minsk (Belarus) in 2017. The main focus of the company was to research the boundaries of body, movement, external spaces and internal states in the frame of contemporary dance, film and performance art.
By today the company successfully released:
- dance performance 'LOOK' (2nd Prize in ‘Contact.energy’ contemporary dance contest at 6th International Tanztheater Festival (26-29/09/2018), Tanztheater Erfurt, Erfurt (DE); 2nd Prize in the contemporary dance contest at 31th International Festival of Modern Choreography (21-25/11/2018), Concert Hall Vitebsk, Vitebsk (BY));
- dance performance 'INSTRUCTION. How to Open a Tin Can From the Inside' (11-13/10/2019 – 12th Urban Life Festival guest programme, Centre Nelson Mandela, Brussels (BE); 06/04/2019 – Dymchuk Gallery, Kyiv (UA));
- screendance film 'SOLO' (03/10/2020 – 9th International Dancefilmfestival Brussels, DansCentrumJette, Brussels (BE); 13/06/2020-20/07/2020 – LICHTBLICK Video Exhibition, Kunsthalle am Hamburger Platz, Berlin (DE)).
Further, dance performance project 'Broken Dispenser' was developed at choreographic residency (2019; 22/11/2019 – Teatro Nuovo, Pisa (IT)) thanks to contribution of the Artistic Residences of Tuscany (RAT) Teatrino dei Fondi, Con.Cor.D.A Project Artists in the Territories of the Tuscany Region and Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities MIBAC.
